Coke isn't actually the best soda to do it with though, the confusion stems from the fact that round these parts coke is often used as a catchall phrase for all sodas and particularly other colas. Coke already has a fairly well rounded taste by soda standards so the addition of the peanuts saltiness doesn't do much for it, what you really want to put them in is RC Cola or Pepsi, something about the salt brings out tastes in them that otherwise the sweetness overpowers."
