>>6936488Yeah but they both had the problem of being sequels to a self-contained story where all of the conflicts have already been resolved. In Episode 6 the whole point was that Vader brought balance to the force and that was supposed to be the end of Stat Wars, even George Lucas himself said so in interviews before he started discussing his own ideas for a sequel trilogy which didn't seem very interesting either so you can't really blame Disney. The only thing they could've done that wouldn't have come out bad would be to make movies in the far future or far past (like the Old Republic), not only 20 years after the OT.
I don't think the prequel trilogy was that bad, they had their cheesy moments but they still felt like a work of George Lucas's vision, not like a corporal production that was probably written by a bunch of guys in a boardroom to get the most out of the box office. I know this is a pretty popular opinion these days but Revenge of the Sith was a god-tier film imo.
