it's just a chip the government puts in you at birth. it comes with the basic birth plan, which is free in the sense that you pay it through taxes but if you were to separate the cost it'd be 400. while it doesn't play music, it can tell the government where you are in case of injury.

i don't have a comparison to whether or not things are more advanced or not, but it's ok. i was able to purchase a premium vacation package through my venting employer so i could sit in a unit and go to other timelines in the form of mental travel.

to answer in order:
1 - it's more of a hyper-realistic hallucination. i'm not smart enough to say how exactly it works, but it's something along the lines of manipulating how neurons fire.
2 - i heard about this place in my reality, how others came here before. i was told it's a place of outstanding culture, and i could learn things that could apply to my reality for the better.
