What's with the recent trend of companies hating their own customer base and loyalists? I first noticed it during GG in 2014 with all the media outlets telling their customers to drop dead.
But if anything it's gotten worse and expanded. Disney Star Wars with Kennedy and Johnson saying they weren't making movies for the old fans, CBS calling Star Trek fans racist sexists for saying their new show was bad. And then pointedly pretending Star Trek had some fictional bigoted past where Dax, Sisko, Janeway, and Uhura never existed.
Now we have the two largest gaming companies in the West seemingly trying to ditch their two decade long audiences and traditions for the sake of shitty online MTX crap.
But the strange thread that unites all of these examples is the combination of hostility to the older fans with an obliviousness that they'll get a hostile counter reaction.
Anyone else think of some good examples, this shit seems really prevalent all the sudden
