Looking to get into anime, should I start with newer still in progress titles like Goblin slayer? Or should I watch the older ones like evangelion or cowboybebop and stuff like that?

Any recommendations as to what I should sink time into?

cowboy bebop is great, especially if you like episodic shows with great music and art direction. plus spike spiegel.

what kind of movies/tv/stories do you usually get into?

So far I've seen CowboyBebop, Gurren Lagann,
Elfen Lied, the Netflix originals Ajin and knights of Sidonia (despite being 3D they were really good)

Never really cared for the huge animes like naruto, bleach, fairytail stuff like that.

Mostly anything with good storyline and loveable characters. And I kinda prefer completed ones so I can go torrent them and watch them on the go.

cool. i would still recommend trying one of the big shonen animes. they're a huge investment but worth seeing if you're into that.

have you tried any shojou? anime for girls? cuz it's pretty good sometims, depending on what you pick. puella magi madoka magicka, kobayashi-san chi no maid duragon, ouran host club (imo).

a couple of my other favorites are erased and akame ga kill. both great. both complete. they'll give ya the feels.

Forgot to mention I've seen kill la kill. And "my little monster" I think was the name.
Also watched a bit of the heavens lost property. So it isnt like I'm new to anime. I'm just out of quality stuff and i cant go ask people I know cause they're like "anime is gay hurdurr"

Anything with handholding and like relationship building, kinda like what "Seishun Buta Yarō" is doing.

Made in Abyss is my favorite anime to date, don't let the art style fool you, its cute but it gets real. Only season 1 is out so far though, came out in 2017, still, highly recommend.

made in abyss was a two dimensional attempt at a "deep" anime with unlikable characters, generic everything, and disgusting CG. gore doesnt make it "real", it just makes it edgy

an anime from that season with a "similar" art style that was substantially better was Girls last tour or shoujo shuumatsu ryokou. it's episodic with a story and tip top animation and music.
only 13 episodes as well so not too hard to watch in a day
