>>708799>after we sent little man and fat boy their wayI really despise this historical illiteracy. There is no ambiguity whatsoever that the atom bomb saved *Japanese* lives. We killed as many or more people in the firebombing of Tokyo alone than we did with both atom bombs combined. That was just one of the- what, hundreds?- of densely populated cities we firebombed.
None of that was sufficient to earn a Japanese surrender. We could have firebombed Nagasaki and Hiroshima and there is no doubt they would not have surrendered. For Meiji Japanese military command, death in battle of every civilian was preferable to surrender.
Part of the reason why they thought this is because of how they treated every "coward" who surrendered to them. They expected torture and genocide if they surrendered, for that is what they dealt to their captives. Japanese genocide was larger than the Nazi genocide- largely owing to the indiscriminate annihilation of China's absurdly large population. Just google the Rape of Nanking or Unit 731. America hushed this up for the sake of peace and rebuilding- but that has strained our relations with China who has never received an apology from Japan. Yet idiot faggots like you still urge us to apologize to the Japanese- implying they are the victim. You have no idea how much this enraged Chinese and Chinese Americans. And Koreans. And Philippinos. And everyone else the Japanese put into massive systematic rape camps.
So no, Japan would not surrender. But with the realization that not only could we deploy nuclear anihilation, but we could do so repeatedly and rapidly, we were able to force surrender much faster than the slow but steady fire bombing could have achieved. We SAVED the Japanese from themselves, as well as every other Asian nation in the Pacific. The sheer numbers and math doesn't lie.
Rebuilding Japan was the right choice. We have a morally upstanding civilized economic ally. But don't you dare fucking let them play the victim.
