By making each post stand alone (in terms of who could have created of it), rather than having an account with an associated log of posts, it is difficult to see who made what posts. Unless you're on a board with flags like /bant/, which makes it a little easier, but not by very much really, especially since vpn's are a thing. Namefagging, like I am, kind of negates some of the anonymity, as you build up a personality surrounding the name you chose. Instead of being a random person, you're a random person who has a traceable moniker. But without the use of tripcodes, or even with tripcodes, it's anyone's guess as to the identity of anyone who made a particular post is on this website. And that's what makes 4chan interesting, I guess.
