Everyone use imageboard slang so widely so that it's no longer anything special to know it. And also there are lots of popular media sites that basically provide 9gag level humor under the name of russian imageboards, as well as occasionally copying stuff from the said imageboard.
This is all because back in 2008-2010 there were an entire generation of people who kept using imageboard memes and slang in schools and unis. For example, in my 2nd grade in uni back in 2009 the entire male part of the group (over 70% coz tech field) was constantly publicly making imageboard jokes and using the slang.
It already happened in Russia. America is so far behind because the american humor (including the internet one) is literally normie tier. If you translate english humor to the language of countries who have their humor heavily influenced by the imageboard cultures (russia, finland, sweden) you'd literally physically cringe and possibly even die. Back when proper online communities were injecting imageboard cultures into themselves, the english community was unironically enjoying 9gag and the popularization of the FUUU/epicfail kinda memes.
