i can't speak for furry artists or their intent (it usually boils down to them being horny) but as a viewer i like this image because she's drawn cutely and seems like a fun person to be around. there's a lot of emotion carried by her movements and expression without it seeming forced.

on a broader scope ancient peoples have always depicted deities with animal heads, probably because they associated animals with food or strength.
in the context of christianity some angels are said to have the heads of many beasts, so God may literally have legions of furries in his ranks. either that or they're aliens that early man couldn't describe properly.
