I feel sorry for the Serbs. They had a Kingdom that only lasted a hundred years in the middle ages. By 1600 the Kingdom was annexed by the Ottoman Empire. Despite being able to achieve independence from the Ottomans in 1815, and expanding multiple times they want through many hardships throughout the next 140 years. After both world wars Serbia (now Yugoslavia) became a communist nation and by the late 1980s had a horrible economy, high unemployment, and hyperinflation. In the 90s the Yugoslav wars occurred and the only a small portion of Yugoslavia remained. Montenegro and Kosovo were wanting independence from Serbia. In response to the conflicts occurring between these factions, NATO about destroyed Belgrade and president Milošević pulled his forces out of Kosovo. Finally, in 2006, Serbia lost Montenegro and might lose Kovoso in the next few years.

I could Serbia, and Serbians for keeping their country in existence despite the hardships throughout the last 800 years.
