I might be OK with a 7th cousin, but no more related than that. 7th cousin implies maybe three hundred years ago there was one common ancestor, and even that sounds a little too much for me. I think most White Americans are slightly related to each other, by now, at least the ones with English, Scottish, Irish, German, and maybe even Italian and Polish American roots, these days. Honestly, I might prefer to marry somebody from an ethnicity I am pretty sure I have no connection to, maybe from a Hispanic or Asian one.
