If you can't relate to Shinji, why are you even on /bant/? But for real, I love the art style, the latent sounds, the music score, the way it makes you read the characters without them speaking, the way you end up rooting for people you know are assholes, and probably most the way it handles the kids' emotions (eg Shinji screaming his lungs out like an autist).

The atmosphere and tone is amazing.
The visuals are amazing.
The writing teeters on vague and pretentious to being captivating and actually deep.
The action is intense.
The pacing is good.
Only 1 bad episode out of 26. like 4 mediocre ones.
The sound design is the best I've ever heard.
The only problem is that the characters are drawn so inconsistently

in general its a 8.5 or a 9, EoE is what makes the series a classic. EoE is a 10/10 undoubtedly.

If YOU were put in that situation you would probably just shutdown too.
