Cave might not be so bad but it really depends on the area and a slew of factors.
I also don't think slime grows on the walls so you'd have to find some form of stable food supply in the area.
Also need to consider wild animals and people coming across you since you're presumably connected to a landmass and not on an island only reachable by a sea vessel.
Would you have a door for the cave? Guess maybe you could try and make one out of wood but it would be tough if the opening was large, maybe not so hard if its small.
Also no light inside?
