if you really feel the need to say something, just be like "well nothing interesting has been going on in my life recently. what's up with you?" or whatever
i'm assuming you think they're going to find you boring because you don't bring up interesting convo, but the truth is people actually like being asked lots of questions. they'll see you as easy to talk to, and someone who is actually interested in hearing what's going on in their life, even if you really aren't
