I've received "thank you"s from 5 people in my today's mart trip.
Held the elevator doors for a lady with a baby carriage.
Held mart's doors on entering and exiting the mart for an old man, a couple of girls and a woman.
Even as an asocial autist as I am, shy enough to even reply anything to any of these "thank you"s other than with suppressed "mhm" and a polite little bow, I always try to help anyone around I can, even if it means just to hold the doors for someone passing behind me.
And with every "thank you" there's this pure, genuine and warm wave going through me every time.
And what's great too is that absolutely everyone says thanks for even this little help.
As silly and naive as it, unfortunately, sounds in nowadays's society — be kind, anon. You will receive more kindness in return than you think. Every "thank you" makes me a little happier, and I hope it is so for you too.
