That sounds like an idea, there is one near me.
I'm not planning to drink more than one as I will probably drive. I'm not as unsociable as I used to be but do people usually talk to people on their own in pubs if one looks pretty chilled.
It just might be a little daunting at first.

Actually spoons is probably not a good idea, it's not really a place people speak, to new strangers and more just go for cheap food. Seriously its way nicer to go with people. Hell I would say Come grab a couple if you lived near Oxford but I'm busy

Someone is bound to recognize me if I go out, as I work in retail around here, so everyone will know my face, but they don't actually know me.

I usually just sat down and ordered a drink and eventually someone would sit beside me and I would ask them how’s it going or I’ll have a conversation about sports with the bartender or something

that's nice fren, I'm gonna go to this other pub in town, it's mainly ages 25+, all ages seem so go, it's a little rough but I seem to get on with the working class more than spoilt student types.

Nothing wrong with going to a pub on your own mate. Just choose the right pub and dress appropriately. For example, if you turned up at my local wearing a suite, they would think you were an undercover police officer, and probably glass you.

I'm pretty casual looking, wearing a sports hoodie. I'm just thinking if somebody recognizes me, (which they will) they might ask who I'm here with and they might think it's odd that I'm on my own, as I look more of the type to be out with the lads, but I'm actually pretty quiet.

I never went to deceive people for personal gain, I just fucked with people for my own enjoyment. Told people that I was a journalist who worked on a Somali pirate ship, shit like that.
