Should I drop out and just become a shiphand? I've always loved the Sea.
Any anon's here have experience with the Sea, be it Navy/Military, cargo, fishing, etc.? Anything to say about it?

I worked on oil rigs for years. If you have a trade the money is crazy, but it's hard graft. You don't see the world as much (unless youre on a drilling rig) but the pay and time is better (used to work 2wks on, 2 off)

Most shiphands I've met are foreigners, which are either asian or indian, getting paid less than 8 dollars an hour. They're a miserable lot that I've met in Oakland's ports as a courier. I've also met a lot of mercs that defend the ships from pirates, now that sounds pretty sick.

no. not really, you spend an enormous amount of time doing absolutely nothing...your watch is usually at night , and you are not allowed to those mud frogs until they are on company property , which means you have to wait for them to board to kill them , then you can also collect any bounty as well as contract money. . plus they only like to hire ex-military.. so if you don't have any of that ..good luck.. you might get in if you have peace officer training.. but that is usually only if you have trained in swat and/or tactical training..
