why are authors from 100+ years ago so verbose?
whenever I try to read one of their books they take 3 fucking pages to say something that could have been done in 1 sentence
and a lot of them have sections where they just start dumping synonyms for what they already said seemingly for the sole reason of flexing on you with their vocabulary
