>in my house
>a knock occurs on the door
>cat buggers off to go hide somewhere
>it's like me, it doesn't like other people either
>I go to my curtain that I cut a small hole in so I can see whoever is on my doorstoop without arousing suspicion by letting them notice the curtain itself move
>it's not cops or the mailman, it's just some strangers
>I decide to see what they want since they don't appear to be a threat
>I open the door and they look at me
>I don't say anything and eventually they say hello
>I still say nothing
>they say that they are new neighbours, they moved in a month ago
>I see
>they look at me
>I look at them
>They say to me that I don't own a car, in a tone that makes it clear it is a query and not a statement.
>Why do you think I don't own a car?
>Because there's never one in your driveway
>You been watching my driveway?
>Well, it's hard not to notice
>Not for me
>so we were wondering if we could park our car in your driveway, they say awkwardly because this conversation has not gone on the course I suspect they planned it would
>I'll think about it, I respond
>they ask me what there is to think about
>Do you need an answer immediately?
>Well, if you aren't using it, what's the harm in us parking our car there?
>The answer is no, do not come on my property again
>close the door

I wonder why beggars always overplay their hand like that. I might have said yes if they'd let me think about it. But when immediate responses are demanded, it's easier for me, cause I can give you an answer right away if you want one so bad, you just won't like to hear it.
