>>7606925English law on prenups tends to somewhat confuse foreigners, which is often why extremely wealthy men from overseas get fucked over in UK courts under the impression that prenups are binding. They are not.
The law that governs prenups in England is always English law. Our judges do not do what they do in Germany and France where they practice foreign law in their courts. The jurisdiction in which it was made can have a minor effect on quantum of divvying up the finances, but not on the interpretation of the law itself.
Prenups are not binding here, they are just (increasingly) considered weighty depending on the circumstances of their creation and whether or not they leave someone in a state of real need. This has literally only changed in the last decade since a massive case called Radmacher. Barely 40 years ago prenups were little better than toilet paper because our judges tended to be very paternalistic. Now they are quite weighty. Still, English judges are incredibly generous to women/the financial weaker partner and prenups are not usually adhered to entirely.

A substantial number of Russians and post-Soviet states, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Germans. North London ultra-orthodox Jews trying to fuck over their wives also pop up a surprisingly high amount, but i've yet to have one as a client since they keep the work within the family, so to speak.
