I respect your opinion. But I disagree with it.
Let me explain why.
You see, /bant/ is still a very young board. As with any community, and especially for one with no ties to specific topics, it will take some time before the culture and level of discourse have been established. We're all still trying to figure out what we want /bant/ to be, and we're slowly but surely finding our own flow. Understandably, these deeper currents are not so easy to spot if you just drop by once in a while.
At a glance, it's not weird to see a resemblance to [s4s] or /trash/. After all, some mods seem to use this board as /pol/s very own /trash/, which lowers the overall quality of the board. At the same time, the board moves slowly, and it's just not possible to keep people from spamming their own forced memes. I'm sure that as the user base grows, as more good memes are made, and more regular/general threads appear, it will be more obvious what /bant/ really is.
There are a lot of of regular posters here and to us, this is a lot more than /b/ with flags and less porn. We might not seem very serious, but we do care a great deal about this place. Here, we can learn a lot about people from the rest of the world, share memes your normie friends will never ever see, discuss any topic, play any board game, ...etc. While people here might be mean, they're never vile - it's just banter. And we do have some things that are unique to /bant/. Some of the stuff here, like Simon, /bant/kingdom or the Get PSAs for quints and up, have been here from the very start of the board.
Would /bant/ really be better if we tried to enforce a different direction for the board? I don't think so. After all, we're just people who have found a place to hang out. It doesn't matter if it's stupid - We're having fun, and we don't have to care about what others think.
