>>778243Personally, I think blacks are at such a high risk because of poverty.
You take a middle class white family and a lower class black family. Advertise cheap food (but unhealthy), and who goes for it? Advertise healthy alternatives (at a higher cost) and who goes for that?
But that goes for any type of class + race combination.
It's easy for lower class families to access quick, cheap, unhealthy meals than to prepare and cook foods. And sure, these foods DO add up, but not to them. In fact, it would be cheaper to buy different foods and prepare meals in bulk (potatoes/rice/vegetables/beans) than to constantly go shopping and buying ready-made meals.

Yeah, junk food junk food junk food. Anything to stretch those stamps.
Take another look at the situation, a higher majority of single black mothers than any other ethnicity. So while she's out working, you have kids that need dinner. So what does the mother do?? Ready made meals. Snacks for when she's not home.
It's sad and as for black youth, they get money and aren't taught to save it up, but instead spend it on after school junkfood because that's what they were raised on because they had nothing healthier to feed on.
