Even though I was in a rural area and my school sucked, I got to do advanced subjects over the phone with a decent school in the city for free.
I got youth allowance + rent assistance through uni which allowed me to easily keep myself afloat alongside occasional casual work.
I got a moving away from home to study bonus from Centrelink and my HECS debt is pretty modest. Never had any issue finding work, either.
Granted not everything is hunky-dory (i.e. breaking into the housing market) but what other "first world" countries could provide to me what Australia did, while also having a good culture, not being ravaged by unskilled immigration, providing free healthcare, etc?
