>>7803667>what? work saturdays? fuck that.oh boy oh man, you missed me talking about it
basically during orientation i was told "some saturdays" which i interpreted to be 1 in 3 at the most extreme of times, usually once in a blue moon. a couple weeks after i started actually working i was informed that the expectation was literally every saturday. when i told the supervisor that "i have other obligations" and couldn't do that he seemed dumbfounded that i wasn't making working on the weekend a priority in my life.
after he recovered from being shocked he told me that while the expectation is every saturday coming in just every other saturday is acceptable, but if i miss one saturday i better be sure that i'm capable of coming in the next if i don't want to use a day of time off or whatever. only after i pushed a little bit more did he tell me that i could get out of working on a saturday if i fixed 2 extra laptops every day during the week.
considering that even people who had been there for years frequently weren't able to fix the number that they were supposed to in a 10 hour shift let alone 2 extra ones and i had a handful of other qualms with the work i pretty quickly decided that the admittedly quite good pay wasn't worth it
>do you know what kind of job you'll be looking for yet?i'll just see what's around, i'm not super picky. it really just needs to be something that will let me work 40-50 hour weeks, very rarely if ever on weekends, that i don't hate and pays at least $12.50/hr
i'll make a point of checking out some laptop repair shops though. i was working at a big repair factory which was causing most of the problems i had with the job. i could definitely see myself doing essentially the same work at a mom'n'pop shop with a focus on quality over expediency
