Gamer joker memes originated on reddit. It's notable that while they were inspired by a couple of memes of smug, self-important gamers (fittingly, from 9gag), the rest were made up and created a whole strawman, with its own blown-up story and cartoonish opinions. while this kind of "self-important gamer" type is seemingly not very widespread, and appears cherrypicked and blown far from proportion, reddit insists that "people like this actually exist", and they feels strong urge to ridicule it.
the rest is IMO but to me it's interesting how this "self-important gamer" type got invented and blown from proportion so much.
it was argued once that for a particular group of people, there is
>A tendency to project one's own feelings of inadequacy, rage and fear onto a scapegoated groupand I think "Gang Weed" is this particular scapegoat. it's possible it's simply a projection of a smug, self-righteous redditor, a special snowflake who believes that "society is wrong", and his realization how beta he really is. "gamer" is just a convenient, easy to shame image of an immature young man, or a full-blown manchild, which is what most redditors are, unawarely.
