Is it the future of gaming? General thoughts on it?

In my opinion, I can see it becoming something great. After playing VR once about 6 months ago, it was a really great experience. While it just me standing around holding a gun and shooting at weird robot creature things. I had a blast and it just felt so... Real. I'm interested in getting VR for my pc, but need to find out what I need.
