it is, i honestly love these shifts. nobody talks to me and i dont have to talk to anybody, not face to face at least
i just audit some stuff for the university i work at which takes like two seconds around this time, then the rest of my shift is spent monitoring a live chat service that we offer, but theres nothing stopping me from forwarding all of it to the student concerns email account, and they dont give a shit. i dont usually do that though because most times their questions are easy to answer and i want them to like me so i can keep doing nothing at this job
are you doing nightshift too or are you just keeping me company?

it was hard at first, but the hardest part was just staying awake for the shifts and changing my sleep schedule
i have like the most niche role here i do basically nothing but somehow my position still exists. i think its because they keep advertising a 24/7 point of contact
i think this is the easiest and best job i will ever have

it does feel kind of weird going to bed when its day time and then waking up at night, but then again the seasons and weather here are beyond fucked up anyways so it doesnt change much

i make $14.35 per hour, which is $3.00 higher than the minimum wage here. its not too much but i mean considering i do like nothing that requires actual qualifications im pretty happy about it. i usually work 24 hours per week, friday saturday and sunday

its pretty high yeah, but i make and save enough to pay for my rent and groceries and stuff like that and im able to slowly but surely put stuff into savings which is great. i dont really go out, like ever either so im sure im saving a lot of money there on alcohol at bars and stuff. i drink a fair amount but not enough that it cuts into savings or whatever. alcohol from marts and stuff seems to be expensive in leafland in general though. can only imagine how much more id be paying if i went to a bar or something like that to get a drink.

i mean officially i help audit student payments which actually does take a long ass time during application seasons for the regular semester starts because there are so many of them. then my job actually takes several hours. when i first started and experienced my first "rush" period, it took me almost the entire 8 hours to do everything. but i got much better and faster at it. after that is all done, i am there to monitor a live chat service and answer emails from students. they can ask me basically anything related to the school. however, the full time staff that work monday to friday during the day also do the live chat and email stuff so its not really crucial that i answer everything instantly or at all. i do anyways because i want to keep my job (im always on essentially on contract).
i think i get paid this well because it's part of the university. i got really lucky that nobody really wanted to do overnight work. they actually pay me a premium to do the overnight shifts. the normal part time employees who work the weekends from 7 to 3 or 3 to 11 make $12.35 per hour.
