>>786287It would be a strange civilisation... Bypassing Christianity as the fundation of our society and moral with a Militarystic regime for all (now that there are safe "specialist" position in the army). Not totally into the industrial revolution since it lacks steam power, separated 50/50 between an agregarian society and artisan-workers. Decentralized for the sole purpose of creativity and profit rather than democracy and stability.
You see the main problem of Rome was that they heavily relied on new conquests to maintain their economic and morale vitality. But they never thought of invading Germania, going more South or East because it was just not profitable enough. I hope that the new ideas of expansionism through colonisation had settled the route for an ever moving forward empire.
In some aspect, the fall of Carthago was a disaster for the West. If Rome had assimilated their maritime commercial policy maybe they could have discovered South Africa, Quebec, or Australia (lands with enormous reserves of gold).
North America colonization
Just as the French did I would settle a Fort in Old Quebec, using the Saint-Laurent and the Great Lakes as a maritime access to inner lands.
South Africa colonization
The Cap town was probably the shittiest colonial landing in history, I would not repeat the same mistake and settle a port nearer of Johanesburg and its gold mines.
Australia colonization
Sydney was a better option for a start, more fertile lands and near huge gold deposit
