by just following the notes to a T. Make a character with flaws and aspirations outside of "I'm a nobleman and must be noble!" and you'll do better than 90% of comparable characters. You can accomplish this via a romance subplot, or personal quirks, or odd opinions or mannerisms, or making him or her have a unique circumstance that keeps them from having a clear-cut dichotomy between "I must be noble!" and "I'm having a hard time being noble!"

Yeah, those sound like interesting quirks. Or, you could go a little further and make them socially daft, so that they continually fail obvious concepts of nobility but feel accomplished despite it, causing the conflict of him grappling with acting properly... or, you could make someone struggling with their impulses, so that they get into positions unbefitting of a noble despite their genuinely noble intentions. Perhaps someone overzealous, or perhaps someone genuinely autistic.

Anything would work.

oh, i was thinking of more of a kanye west kind of thing where he's on top of the world and everyone around them tells him he's the best, but when he does something that's not perfect everyone in the world talks about it and he starts to reconsider whether he's truly the best

but what you're describing is good too, like they're really altruistic and always try to do the best for their people, but they're always not sure if they're doing what they're expected to. kind of like ozymandias from watchmen but he was willing to do immoral things rather than just unnoble things to achieve his goals of what he believed was best for humanity as a whole

If you want another iota of advice, just remember that personality traits don't have to make the person a caricature. If this is a longer piece, you could easily have moments of passive and downright lethargic activity for the character attributed to sheer personal contradiction. You could even elaborate on that contradiction later on in an effort for the individual to approach the primary conflict (being the pressure to be a proper nobleman, or however else you present it.)
