In middle school I made it all the way to nationals representing the state of Illinois in chemistry. From elementary to high school I was always competing in things like math, physics and chess at a state level.
People who met me would go as far as calling me a prodigy...
Now I'm a 26 year old neet and I never leave the house.
I was never given the chance to learn how to navigate social situations.
A simple conversation can be a real challenge for me and being so socially inept makes everyday life near impossible.
The three job-interviews I was given were total disasters. I would stutter, tremble and barely made any eye contact.
Looking around it seems like the only way anyone can get anywhere in life is through networking.
My guess is that you're in a similar (Likely less extreme) situation.
