If you really wanted to practice, then play on Normal since Easy difficult doesn't benefit enough practices on each spellcards. I managed to beat all Touhou games (including PC-98) on Hard difficulty since I've been playing Touhou at least two years on Normal. Good luck on your Touhou adventure.
