Anyway you want to press E for auto attack and resource gathering and pressing X so you don't rotate (accidentally look away from the trees, berry bushes, rocks thus wasting time)
As for the stuff that appears when you age those are perks, choose the kind of role you want to play for the tribe. I wanted to mainly build so I picked the axe and castle related things.
