I know the threads are bumped nowadays but I honestly think it was started as a reaction to the salty mods rather than as a cause for the salty mods, if that makes sense. I recall Cirno being really organically posted and bumped and people (and mods) getting buttbothered, the infamous sticky, and then the suspicious cirno thread bumps, in that order.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was mods bumping the threads to try and make them look bad, either. Not like it's out of character for mods to act like babies and obsess over trying to change who frequents the board or what people on the board think. Heck, the whole point of the imptrash waves is to try and get /pol/tards on /bant/ instead of the population it currently has.
