>>799323>If everyone on earth didn't hurt each other, we wouldn't fight. This is a tautology, but anyway. This hippie sentiment is very flawed.
First off, Christians themselves had crime and violence back in the day. Heck, some of the bloodiest wars were thought between Christians—see catholics vs protestants. So Christianity by itself, though urging to cease violence, is not the end-all means for this. Heck, many thugs back in the day were religious, wore crosses and all that.
You'll say that we just need to share. Give away your wealth like Christ taught. And this is how you pave the road for another cancer of modern society, welfare state, and ultimately communism (which is basically Christian ethics on steroids).
But not only that. There are simply inferior tribes and people, like blacks, violent from their very nature. Look at OJ Simpson—the man was rich and yet he's in jail now. Christianity tells us that these "people" are just like us, they're just lost sheep.
And it also tells us, that the world is our home. That we live on one planet, so we're responsible for feeding them.
Last but not least, this statement quietly implies that… we just need to convert everyone to Christianity. Which is pretty impossible, at least without nukes. You see the Middle East every day on the news, you saw what's going on in Africa.
So indeed, Christianity works alright when you live in a wealthy community comprised of devout Christians. When it stops working is when we suddenly remember that there are non-Christians, disadvantaged or simply dumb, lazy and violent subhumans in the world.
This when your religion turns into a doormat, and basically works against you.
