The in-multiverse explanation of the Sword-in-the-Stone story is that the sword Caliburn is always destined to be pulled by the next King, but it's usually a woman who finds and dislodges the sword. Further along in the King Arthur storyline the King starts getting nervous about his lack of a heir and asks the mad wizard(female?) Merlin for help. She gives the King a dick, and rapes her to make a baby. They go their separate ways after delivering the child.
