>>8102490I lost my brother to suicide 3 yrs ago. Before that i was already drinking a lot, so when he left us i went into overdrive with the liquor. I was drinking a 1.75L in two days, then buying more as soon as i sobered up. I couldnt sleep unless my mind was flooded with booze to block out the reality of him actually being gone. This went on for 2 yrs straight. Just completely saturated by whiskey every single night. Last fall i decided to start going on bike rides really late into the night to get out of my funk. I would still drink, but heres the catch. I would only buy a 375ml bottle, put half in my mountain bikes water bottle, fill the rest with pepsi so i had a very stiff 5 shot mixed drink with me on my ride. Made a route i take everytime thats rougly 12 miles. I enjoy sips of the demon water as i ride, its a grueling ride so i sweat and my heart rate and breathing are elevated. Its usually an hour and a half long ride where when its done i stop at a local park bench and cool down/ finish the last few gulps and head home. The natural high of a good solid bike ride makes me feel good, and the decent sized drink spread out over that 1-2hrs gives me a very nice, reasonable, long lasting buzz as my bloods been pumping that shit through my body crazy from the exercise. As the night closes in i still have the 2nd half of the 375ml bottle left to which i take tiny tiny baby sips out of, i like the burn of straight whiskey in my mouth, for the remainder of my evening until i go to bed.
What this has done for me is got me to a point where i dont NEED to buy a giant bottle and stay on my couch drinking deathly amounts of poison to get to sleep. I can get out, exercise, feel good naturally but with a little whiskey kick, relax in the park in pure AM city silence, go home, cool of with baby sips, and get great sleep.
If anything OP, give it a try.
