Well I used to play with friends on a minecraft server, it was super cool and we were very good friends, but then people lost interest in this server and now it's closed.
Even know I still have contact to most of my old friends, we don't really have anything in common anymore so it's kinda like everything we went through together is slowly vanishing.

you should start a modded server with your friends, they might have more interest then
vanilla minecraft eventually gets boring when there isn't much left to do
