Reddit got taken over by chinks who basically turned it into a corporate shilling platform and tumblr banned pretty much 90% of their content. I have absolutely no idea what the purpose of tumblr is at this point.
Overall reddit was worse because the way the site is designed discourages original content and if you post something that people disagree with you get downvoted very quickly which is bad because you need karma to be able to post. So over time every subreddit turns into some sort of insane cult that gets utterly disconnected from the outside world and every bit of information that contradicts their increasingly insane ideology makes the redditors fall into a state of hysteria as they become unable to process contact with humans who aren't part of their little group. The most famous example of that was when Bernie Sanders lost the election in 2016 and millions of redditors were shown on television waking up from their delirious frenzy and regaining contact with the outside world as their brain had to adjust to regaining contact with reality.
