Every scientist, architect, engineer, etc. in the U.S. uses the metric system.

When will the average American finally adopt the metric system colloquially? Everyone with a semi-functioning brain realises its usefulness.

That is actually wrong. Everyone who has ever taken a college course uses metric in their field. America has "officially" adopted the metric system, it just never caught on.

Scientists and people who actually use measurements use metric.
