The part of all this bullshit that makes me roll my eyes is the futility.
Like, okay, so now you took American Classic Movie #6 and "re-woke" it so that now every female redhead is a black/indian girl, and every male love interest has brown skin, and you even have the indecency and disrespect for the original creators to simply name your remake the exact same name as the original, in the hopes that maybe the original will be forgotten in favor of yours.
So, has it ever worked? Even once? Has any single one of these "woke" remakes ever completely overshadowed the original? Because to my knowledge, no matter how many reboots they do, or how "woke" they try to make it, they can never recapture the original audience appreciation for the original film. The remakes always, fucking ALWAYS end up falling in the shadow of the original classics, and are either remembered as "now that's more like it! But I didn't like the original either so I probably won't see this again", or, "the original was better".
The absolute best case scenario is that the movie ends up being simply "as good" as the original, but even that lofty goal ended up being just out of reach for even the most popular woke remake.
When will they fucking learn that this is literally a money-losing formula, that, at it's very peak, right now, is at its best more like a money stagnation formula. Who the fuck are these execs/investors listening to that keep saying "This is the year! This time the woke remakes will pull in ALLLLL those HUUUUGE Tumblr profits! We just have to try harder!"
