>>8402658>>8402658>can't rest on the source material and jokes alone?no it could, but the all the other stuff enhanced it into an extremely above average series. If they botched it, it would have sucked.
But I was talking about the creativity of the author of arakawa in having such a variety of what each episode is about, while having the characters stay true to themselves, and just having the imagination to take these various pieces and arrange them over and over in different scenarios to make so much with so little, and at the end of the day 99% of the show is still completely just the cast under a bridge being absolutely fucking insane. That was my point as a credit to the author.
Now Shaft, the director, the voice actors could have botched this with the adaption and not been able to convey or enhanced the source material. And it definitely helped in making the genius of the author shine through and capture a the spirit of the atmosphere he was trying to create. If you notice, and this is something I really love about this series, we don't question anything anymore with this show. These are supposed to be a bunch of crazy bums under the bridge, where did they get any of the things they were using for the tea ceremony? Was it even really there? Are they just playing pretend do deeply that they are imagining all the things they are interacting with? Rec's workers that come there there, tokai and whitey's girl, they too slip into madness.
