I'll share my experience from the wievpoint of an apolitical middle class male living in a small city in the south.
So far it's ok,
Poland is probably the best from post-communist countries, maybe behind czech republic, they seem to be doing pretty good
The government is ok, people don't starve and the education is very good
There are some issues such as the healthcare system because the country still lacks finances but for the most part is ok, the economy has been getting better at a very fast pace
Of course western europe has it better in this category as their economies are better but i don't experience the difference a lot
When it comes to people- i can't compare them with westerners, neither do i know a lot about countryside people
My impression is that yes, working class poles are in a large part crude drunkards or 60yo christian sheepies.
There are a lot of kind people tho
Crime has been getting lower, drinking alcohol in public is now illegal, in my region sorting recyclable trash is now obligatory cities are now more modern and roads no longer have three metre wide holes in them, the railways are getting better and companies are growing
These are small steps but in the right direction
In conclusion
Poland is ok and quite comfy if you're not a poor alcoholic farmer
