get into photoshop. its easy not hard to get into. i usually just play some music while spending some time making stuff. i use gimp. its free. at first all the buttons will be confusing but you get used to them later and you will remember where all the options are etc

No idea for certain, but I haven't really enjoyed playing them since local multiplayer kind of died down for me. These days it all seems to go something like this:
