Of course, if it's very important to you than something had to change, either you had to accept that she didn't wanna do that, she had to push through the anxiety that it likely gave her, or, as it happened, you had to break up. Take this as a lesson I guess, be sure to inform your next prospective partner(s) that public affection is important to you so you can avoid similar issues in the future.
