France is and always was our greatest ally, but America tries to hide that fact. They play up the issues we had with French naval blockades during the napoleonic wars and try to distance the war of 1812 from the global conflict of the time as if they are entirely separate events it’s actually quite hilarious
I think it’s because the us had to propagandize why we would help the uk out during ww1 and ww2 even though the britts were our traditional enemy for over a century
