Every cat I have owned has loved me, they followed me everywhere in the house, they cuddled with me on my bed and my office chair when I'm using the computer and playing my PS4, they rubbed against my legs and sometimes my face to show affection (and ownership, I guess), and some of them would instantly jump on my lap when I meow to them.
Hell, most of them purr when I pet them, some even purr whenever they're in the same room as me. They're great pets and fantastic emotional support, the only reason you think they're emotionally-contained narcissists is because you treat them like you'd treat a dog, which makes about as much sense as watering your tomato plant as if it was a cactus.
