It isn't uncommon for westerners to get uncomfortable when they see an anime scene that doesn't correlate with their views and whine about it on twitter.
Japan is a weird nation, pretty degenerate and yet still holding to some sort of conservative value, though of course, that's because their conservative values come from their old traditional culture than western christianity.
