so when it was first released overseas disney was affiliated with the release in english and they added in some songs to it, when there were very few in the original. however, miyazaki was very very strict on changes to the original so disney actually added not shit songs to the background, and i think eventually there was a version made even in japanese with that soundtrack, but idk
so nowadays among ghibli fans it's an argument whether laputa is better or not with disney soundtrack. i first watched it with it and liked it so i fall into that camp
they still keep the original songs when they were there so they don't overwrite hisaishi's
