yes! very much so. i don't remember the combat past liking it, but the main appeal comes from other stuff such as the fact that item prices aren't standardized across the map so there's lots of money to be made trading with npcs. to do that though you're probably going to want to buy some form of cargo vehicle since you don't have that much personal inventory space, but a lot of areas also have open world pvp so running around with a horse drawn cart or something is painting a target on your back. the most extreme version of this is trading across continents because the prices differences tend to be the most extreme, ships carry a lot of cargo, and the entire ocean is anarchy. of course there's then further repercussions like player guilds that will escort traders in exchange for a percentage of the profit and stuff like that.
you can also make lots of money farming, but crops take several hours real time to grow and unless you plant it on land you own (which you can't get much of) anyone can harvest it including harvesting prematurely for lower rewards. in conjunction with class mobility and the fact that there are no flying mounts but everyone gets gliders you can really scour the map for secret farms or places to plant your own stuff.
those are the only 2 things i remember after a very brief stint with the game many years ago, from what i've seen it's littered with stuff like this
the problem with the microtransactions was in the case of international trading you could just spend $40 to buy a huge fuckoff boat that outran everyone
