>>8693030It's easier to start bass than guitar, it's not just my opinion but a general consensus, playing bass for a rock band is easy since most of the time you're matching the tempo of the drums and matching the chords of the guitar to notes on your bass and only having to play one string at a time makes it easier.
As for getting a bass I reckon you could get a new one for like 100£ that doesn't sound like garbagé or get a used. Best way to start is to just find a simple song you want to play and look it up anywhere. For me it was just practicing a little finger placement and learning some of the notes by heart. Playing White Stripes songs on bass(inb4 white stripes has no bass) is pretty ez since they are extremely simple. Seven nation army can be played on one string for example. for the chorus. So playing simpler songs is good for learning tempo, alongside practicing with a metronome. From there it's your choice, do learning more complex techniques, or just practice for fun and learn more songs.
